i too enjoy this song a lot, however i believe that he is singing more about a one night stand rather than an erratic partner. i can relate to your sentiment though, as i've had people who have come and gone as they please. i've also had people that are similar to the song... one nighters that i'd hoped to get to know, but in the end "she disappears". and i have to admit that i'm guilty of doing both situations to other people too.
