This is a great song. It's pretty obvious that it's about a woman who's not ready for commitment. Not just with this particular man, but with anyone or anything. She's being brutally honest to him, but at least she's being honest.

I agree with your interpretation and I've always liked this song. Some people should never marry or even pretend they can (or want to) be with one person. It's just not who they are, and there's nothing wrong with it providing they are honest with whomever they partner up with (plural). And some are considered boring because they opt for real love; making love as opposed to having sex; and growing old beside a partner for life. Just different tastes/wants, which is what makes us individuals and makes the world a little more colorful...

Its actually about a man that's not ready for commitment. Michael Nesmith wrote it. When Linda Ronstandt did it she changed the "girl" to "boy" but it was originally about a boy who wasn't ready for commitment.
