I agree that the song is about an ending relationship, but to me, these lines:
"Will you get over it this time
And is this the last time"
and
"And I wish that you could give up this game"
It also sounds as though this break up isn't the first one, but could very well be the last one. Sounds to me like he still cares about her but he doesn't think he can handle any more of the break up and make up relationship tha they have and in spite of all of this, he knows that she's always going to be important to him and he'll be there no matter what happens.
