The poem is about a man who feels out of place. He spends his days wandering about the seedy part of town, and then goes to a tea party of some sort. At the tea party no one will listen to him, and even if he said "I am Lazarus, come back from the dead to tell you all" the women would look at him and say "that's not what we were talking about." it's just generally about his love life/lack there of.
