The only time we can expand for real into the universe, is when we all stand united for that one goal.
"The gate is open, lift the curse" Could refer to the most problematic curse humanity has: Hate. Put that away and we will be able to cross the threshold of the gate in our way to whatever we seek.
But we cant take on that challenge if we dont put away our differences and unite ("We are one, we will unite").
