I've always thought that Matt writes his lyrics to mean many different things. While I do agree it may be about God and Christianity, it could mean other things as well. I think that's what Matt wants to say. He wants you to take your own view on it and be enlightened from his lyrics. In my opinion it's talking about happiness and the content he has with life. That he's so happy that nothing can bring him down, even drowning in his problems.
