Lyric discussion by alltat

For me this version just can't compare to the Swedish version, sadly. The English version just feels less, well, touching. Rough translation of the chorus from the Swedish version:

"As long as my heart still beats I'll remember you when You pierced a hole through my kevlar soul And you became my wound and I'm bleeding to death Come, make a hole in my kevlar soul"

The English lyrics are - as always with Kent - quite different though, and in this case the whole 'hope' part of the song seems to have been lost:

As far as I can tell the song is about him shutting people out so as to not get hurt ("my kevlar soul"), but this girl still managed to get close to him ("She put a hole, through my kevlar soul", "My land is your land we are free"), and after the pain of their eventual breakup ("and my heart slowly dies / It gets lonely and cold") he shuts himself again ("My land is my land only mine"), but he's still grateful to have met her (this is the part that seems to be missing from the English version, but check the Swedish chorus).

I don't see how this would really have anything to do with racism though.

An error occured.
