At first I thought this was about a one night stand. After reading all your comments it makes more sense that this has the same meaning as the other songs ex. "Everybody's Changing." It sounds like he tried to tell his friend or let them know that he/she has changed and his thought ends up hurting the friend. They finally realize they don't want to know eachother since they're both so hurt by the other. "I don't know you and I don't want to," is a statement of his pride I think. He's to proud to be trying to reconnect ties with his friend. It all very sad I've had too much experience with these sorts of friendships and I can absolutely relate. Brilliant song.
