Lyric discussion by DJennings

Elton has 2 songs I love...this one and "The way you look tonight." If you listen to a line in the latter, you will see a connection to this song: he says, "...when you found me, I was feeling like a cloud across the sun..." In this one, he says "...no shadows block the sun..." I understand what he is saying because I've felt the same...through love, there is no darkness. Both these songs are inspiring, because you can tell that he is writing from experience--from the experience of true love.

Now, I do have to say that I don't get some of the expressions he uses in this song, which I how I landed on this website! E.g., what does, "For each man in his time is Cain" mean? Or how about "There are caravans we follow Drunken nights in dark hotels When chances breathe between the silence..."

Nevertheless, I can relate to the overall message of deep, enduring, true love that he sings about in these songs.
