I think it's simply him pushing away "deep philosophy." A lot of the time philosophy (especially in religion, politics, poetry, etc.) just gets ridiculous and over-the-top. It's just fancy words and sophist logic that attempts to just catch you off guard (i.e. rape you). So essentially he could just be saying he just choses to hear gibberish when it comes to that stuff because he's so sick of it.
However, knowing Sting it was probably just a temporary mood. He obviously enjoys that stuff at times.
