Throughout the entire song, you can just feel it spiraling down...the cigarettes, the spy, the empty feeling...all leading up to that gorgeous line "counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike." That line is absolutely beautiful, and it conveys such a profound feeling of chaos and being so lost in the midst of it. The lyrics are truly amazing.
