Lyric discussion by STFDood84

Blaze's version has slight changes in lyrics (and some of the guitar/bass parts too) from the Warped Tour 2002 Compilation version...

Here we go again Until one of us says when Making old mistakes, the brake lights illuminate

Accidents repeat You can count on me Crushing you in vain

'Cause I will save you You can hate me We're so well-adjusted Darlin', it's pathetic justice

Find out where I breathe, suffocate my needs Van Gogh kept his ears But I will love you You won't save me We're so well-adjusted Darlin', it's pathetic justic

It's already better than last time I ruined another girl's life I am the portrait of serenity, and desperate need I'll hold you here until you cannot breathe

If I break up with you, you'll find someone new So I'll choose misery And I will save you, you can hate me

They'll all be disgusted Darlin', it's poetic It's pathetic justice

Awesome song. It's pretty clear-cut; an obsessive boyfriend, who of course feels like an innocent victim, hence the "I am a portrait of serenity" line, tries to control the g/f in question by smothering the hell out of her because in his eyes, it's for her own good, as she's not "thinking correctly" by voicing problems with the relationship. He'd rather they be miserable together than miserable apart (due to his "desperate need"), so he ignores/denies the problems ("Van Gogh kept his ears", we all know that's not true) because he "loves" her too much to let her go.

Extremely funny because my g/f's ex is a lot like that... no matter how many times she tells him she'll never go back to him, he thinks they were meant for each other and will never hold out the possibility of them getting back together, even if she tells him flatly that it will never happen... he was also extremely possessive/paranoid of her when they went out, they fought constantly, and he would always deny/ignore their problems because he thought their relationship was "perfect", so it fits...
