I think in the very first 3 lines, he's talking to himself...then in the rest he's talking to his girlfriend. I believe that this girlfriend of his is going away (somewhere up north...maybe college?) He is all torn up that she's actually going, because she'd promised she wouldn't & the fact that she is going is killing him...@ the end he's begging her to stay... sigh So sweet... -- Rock on AAR!
