I need all the help I can get :) Not sure how I interpret this song, although it sounds as though someone is going through a really rough time ("everything hits at once"...could be problems at work; and school; with family; with money; etc) and s/he needs someone to be with him emotionally yet not actually with him. On a personal note, often when people need others the most is when they push them away. They feel weak and unlikable, so instead of welcoming loved ones...

this song seems to be speaking to that relationship that gets problems, and things try to change as someone as always left holding the bag.
