I think that Maynard is speaking about inner-self. About bringing things to the surface of yourself. Those things within us that we have yet to explore. We should do this in an "Unconventional" or newfound way.("You won't do what you'd like to do.") Destroy things ("I'll kill what you want me to.") that are in you that may be hendering you from nourishment. After you destroy the unneccesary, take the beneficial and grow from it.("Take what's left and eat it.") If we try to deny ourselves of the truth about ourselves we will do harm to ourselves. Acceptance of one's self. Denial of one's self is raping one's self. We are our worst enemy.... Free your self from your self!
