Last night, a room full drunks
Sang along to the songs I never had the courage to write
Given the chance, I'd stay in this chorus forever
Where everything ugly in this world
Is sadly beautiful in our desperate memories

No, we're not gonna call everyone on their shit tonight
Even though the half of you won't even smile the next time we pass on the street
Maybe somehow this scam will still save us all
Still save us all

And I saw you dancing at a punk rock show
And for a moment we walked streets that everyone else had given up to four a.m.
Cursed promises and spray paint marking everywhere we went
And every direction only going as far as we let it
There's so many things we tried to do truthfully
By the time it's through with us, it all falls apart
And maybe somehow this scam will still save us all
Still save us all

General Comment"this is about the night his girl broke up with him for another guy out of no where"

I thought this was critical of the punk rock scene.

General CommentThe person in the song is afraid to express their feelings, and then how he wishes how he could open up like all the drunk people could. He doesnt' watn to get mad at anybody tonight, he just wants to be friendly, even though he knows no matter how nice he is they will pretend they don't even know him the next day. Then he talks about how he saw a girl at a punk rock show, and for just that night they spent time together all alone that seemed so impossible, and how they had a great time, but the ending "maybe somehow this scam will still save us all" shows that the same thing happened to him with her as it did with all the other people he had met.

General CommentSame thing happened to me. I was in my best friend's basement and he said,"Hey, I got something you might like." So he turned on Crime and I heard Burn. I thought,"Damn, this is fuckin' cool." Then I Still Love You Julie came on and it was like a fuckin' freight train to the chest. Something just clicked and I've been hooked ever since. Although I must admit, I do prefer the acoustic versions of this song and Walking over the electric versions on Axl Rose.

General CommentI agree with KeasbyKnights (great name by the way). I think it's written form the standpoint of someone who notices that the punk scene has become to focused on the "scene" image, and how all these people who claim to be "punk" are basically full of shit, and have NO idea what punk means and what it stands for. Then he meets someone who seems like she might have some sense about what punk is, but then turns out to be like all the other dronies making a scam out of punk. These people try to be truthful about punk, and take it as far as they can go, until everything they stand for falls apart and they become exactly what they hate, what punk stands against. AM!'s best song, if a little difficult to interpret, but once you do(even if some have there own different interpretations)---WOW!
