@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Stop na na na, you'd better save it!
Stop, stop, stop, you'd better save it!
When we played tag in grade school
You wanted to be It.
But chasing boys was just a fad
You crossed your heart you'd quit.
When we grew up you traded
Your promise for my ring
Now just like back to grade school
You're doing the same old thing!
Stop, the love you save may be your own!
Darling, take it slow
Or some day you'll be all alone.
You'd better stop, the love you save may be your own!
Darling, look both ways before you cross me
You're headed for the danger zone.
I'm the one who loves you!
I'm the one you need!
Those other guys will put you down
As soon as they succeed!
They'll ruin your reputation!
They'll label you a flirt!
The way they talk about you
They'll turn your name to dirt, oh!
Isaac said he kissed you
Beneath the apple tree
When Benji held your hand he felt
Electricity
When Alexander called you
He said he rang your chimes.
Christopher discovered
You're way ahead of your times!
Stop, the love you save may be your own!
Darling, take it slow
Or some day you'll be all alone.
You'd better stop, the love you save may be your own!
Darling, look both ways before you cross me
You're headed for a danger zone.
Slow down.
Slow down.
Slow down.
Slow down.

Most underrated Jackson 5 song by far. It's easily their best. Michael and Jermaine breaking it down at the end is one of Motown's finest moments. These hooks are unbeatable.
I love Jermaines voice, as well as Michael's. Totally underrated. Awesome.
I like the funny little puns that equate the girl's admirers with famous scientists from history:
"Isaac said he kissed you beneath the apple tree" (Isaac Newton and the gravity apple) "When Benjie held your hand he felt electricity" (Benjamin Franklin and his kite) "When Alexander called you, he said he rang your chimes" (Alexander Graham Bell and the telephone) "Christopher discovered you're way ahead of your time" (Christopher Columbus)
I'm either the only person to have noticed this or else everyone knows it so well they don't even feel the need to comment. Either way, I'm a geek.
Musically, I like the voices trading "Buh buh buh buh"'s, and the string hook at the end. It's totally contagious.
Haha...I didn't even notice that, and you are not a geek!<br /> <br /> I'm bad at observing things...This song is one of my favorites from the Jackson 5.<br /> It's sad how people forget about all this beautiful music these days.<br /> I don't even listen to music other than the 60's,70's,80's,and 90's music.<br /> <br /> These days music is mostly about sex and alcohol...It gets on my last nerves.<br />
oh my god your little scientist thing so makes sense!!!

In the R&B tradition of "answer songs", the title/hook of this are borrowed from an earlier Joe Tex song - refer to songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858725184/
