"Mr. Brownstone" as written by W. Axl Rose, Saul Hudson, Duff Rose Mckagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler....
I get up around seven
Get outta bed around nine
And I don't worry about nothin' no
Cause worryin's a waste of my, time

The show usually starts around seven
We go on stage at nine
Get on the bus at eleven
Sippin' a drink and feelin' fine

We been dancin' with
Mr. Brownstone
He's been knockin'
He won't' leave me alone

I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before
I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before

We been dancin' with
Mr. Brownstone
He's been knockin'
He won't leave me alone

Now I get up around whenever
I used ta get up on time
But that old man he's a real muthafucker
Gonna kick him on down the line

General CommentActually, you all are fairly off. This song has nothing to do with Axl. The band had already clarified the meaning for this song. "Slash relates that the song was written by him and Izzy Stradlin while they were at Izzy and his girlfriend Desi's apartment. He states that they were sitting around, complaining about being heroin addicts, when they started improvising lyrics and music ("Brownstone" is a slang term for heroin). When they had the lyrics all together, they wrote it down on the back of a grocery bag and brought it to Axl. Slash says the lyrics describe a typical day in the life of Slash and Izzy."

General CommentMasterofPuppets, even though you are a Metallica Fan which makes you okay in my book, you are off on the drug reference a little. Brownstone is slang for cocaine. A certain type of cocaine that is produced in Mexico I believe. When border agents stopped the flow, police in L.A. still found brown cocaine and wondered why. It was because dealers who made cocaine locally dyed it brown so that the addicts who came to love cocaine and wouldn't buy white cocaine would get their cocaine because it was the brown color they became to love and wouldn't do anything else.

General CommentBrownstone may be heroin, or any drug any way somehow. At first you do a little, these are the first dances but the little wouldnt do so you do more and more, and around this time of his life, having shows, waking early and dancing more and more with mr brownstone, it seems like axl(or whoever wrote it) wants to quit that drug, -gonna kick him off the line!-

General CommentMr. Brownstone is slang for marijuana. The song is about a guy that starts smoking marijuana, but after the first use, he has more trouble getting high, so at the end of the song, he switches to an injectable drug, probably heroin. In the lyrics, the last line of the song is not shown. It is, "Stuck it in the needle, shot it in the needle, it drove me out of my mind." The song is about the ill effects of marijuana as a gateway drug that ruined a guy's life.
