"I Need You" as written by Stephen Daniel Mason, Charlie Lowell, Dan Haseltine and Matt Odmark....
Strangely out of place
There's a light filling this room
Where none would follow before
I can't deny it burns me up inside
I fan the flames to melt
Away my pride
Do I want shelter from the rain
Or the rain to wash me way?

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you
I need you, I need you, I need you
You're all I'm living for

I might sound like a fool
But I think I felt you moving
Closer to me
Face to the ground
To hide the fatal cut
I fight the weight
I feel you lift me up
You are the shelter from the rain
And the rain to wash me away

I need you, I need you, I need you
I need you, I need you, I need you
(All I'm living for)
I need you, I need you, I need you
You're all I'm living for
All I'm living for
You're all I'm living for

Face to the ground
To hide the fatal cut
I fight the weight
Feel you lift me up
Can't deny it burns me up inside
I fan the flames to melt away
My pride
Only had a second to spare
But all the time in the world
To know you're there
You are the shelter from the rain
And the rain to wash me away

[chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you
(All I'm living for)
I need you, I need you, I need you
(All I'm living for)
& I need you, I need you, I need you
You're all I'm living for
All I'm living for
All I'm living for
All I'm living for
You're all I'm living for

General CommentI'll put a comment here because it's an awesome song.

It's about living for God. I "fight the weight" of this life and he "lifts me up". "I can't deny" the love I have for Christ, because it "burns me up inside". He is my "shelter from the rain" and "the rain to wash me away" into the river of his love. That was cheesy.
But it's true because He is "all I'm living for" and boy do I need Him.

General CommentI saw Jars of Clay play this in Gatlinburg, Tennessee at Winterfest (this big youth rally thing). I think they played this right before they covered "Girls just want to have fun". Man, it was awesome.

General CommentHaha Gray, I was there too! My brother and his friends were swaying during Girls just want to have fun...it was creepy. This is a totally awesome song and it's one of my favorites.

General CommentDefinitely one of my favorite Jars of Clay songs. In the usual way I think it's one of their songs that's decisively Christian but not overtly so. Basically, he's writing about how much he needs God.....and the rest is just poetic expansion.
