"Year Zero" as written by and Jared Leto....
Be a hero, kill your ego
But it doesn't matter, it's all just a pack of lies
Build a new base, steal a new fate
It doesn't matter, it's all just to save you

We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
I will stand my own ground
I will tear down myself
I won't fade

Year Zero, I'm not the hero
Is anybody alive here across the line?
Buy a new face, start a new race
It doesn't matter, it's all just to save your face
It's all just to save your face
It's all just to save you

We'll never fade
We'll never fade
I will stand my own ground
I well tear down myself
I will stand my own ground
I will tear down myself
I won't fade
I won't fade

We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
We'll never fade away
(We will never fade away)

General CommentThis track was previously named "Hero" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…), that demonstrated the lyrics leaning towards that. Year Zero is exactly what it says -- 0 AD/BC. There is controversy whether this year existed, or if 1BC went to 1AD. Just a bit of snippets to add to the meaning --

General CommentThe distorted text 5-ish minutes in to the song is Shannon reading Sun Tzu's "The Art Of War"

General CommentI think this song is either about reinventing yourself and at the same time not going away, and standing your ground. Or possibly about a world leader somewhere? I really don't know....
