"Rockaway Beach" as written by and Thomas/cummings Erdelyi....
Chewing out a rhythm on my bubble gum the sun is out and I want some
It's not hard, not far to reach we can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach
Up on the roof, out on the street down in the playground the hot concrete
Bus ride is too slow they blast out the disco on the radio

Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach

Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach

It's not hard, not far to reach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach
It's not hard, not far to reach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach
Chewing out a rhythm on my bubble gum
The sun is out and I want some
It's not hard, not far to reach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach
Up on the roof, out on the street
Down in the playground the hot concrete
Bus ride is too slow they blast out the disco on the radio

Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach

Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach

Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
We can hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach

General CommentRockaway Bch is an a real place. The Ramones are singing about their youth, and going to the beach. Rockaway Beach is in Queens, NY not far from where the Ramones grew up in Forest Hills, Queens.

They used to hitchhike or take the bus. which is about an hour trip.
"bus ride is to slow - they blast out the disco on the radio" which is a slap at the Italian kids (like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever) who would play loud disco on the ride.

General CommentIf you own the Rocket to Russia album read the entire book sleve. You'll get a pretty good image of what Rockaway Beach was actually like.
