"Where'd You Go?" as written by Nate Albert and Dicky Barrett....
Checked the clock when I got home
And realized I was alone
Sat for hours by the window
Wonderin' where did you go?
Couldn't eat or sleep at all
Took the pictures off the wall
Paced the place as time moves slow
And I'm wondering where did you go?
Where'd you go? Where'd you go?
I want to know
Lit a cigarette I couldn't smoke
Wound the clock until it broke
Went to bed then took a shower
Stared at TV for an hour
Did the dishes, made the bed
Read a book I've never read
Any minute you will show
And I'm wondering where did you go?
Where'd you go? Where'd you go?
I want to know

Where did you go? [Repeat x4]
I opened the fridge, I opened a beer
And played a tape I couldn't hear
Emptiness began to grow
And I'm wondering where did you go?
Watched the sun come up from the back stairs
Thought about the last few years
I lost control, I screamed, I cried
I punched a pole and went inside
Packed my things called a friend
Wished this emptiness would end
Wrote a note then tore it up
Poured the beer into a cup
Sat on the couch, drank it slow
Wondering where did you go?
I realized I couldn't stay
Grabbed my things and I went away
Where'd you go? Where'd you go?
I want to know!

General CommentThis is such an awesome somg! it actually was the first ska song i had ever heard, it influenced my musical taste for the better! the lyrics are pretty straight foward,a guy comin' home to an empty appartment not knowing what happend to his lady. that sucks, but it makes for a pretty cachy song!

General Commentlol, ah, that's the best comment ever made on songmeanings, bob3lb =P

this song...choice material. the entirety of it just teleports me back to when I was 14 years old, it's amazing. i was way into music like this back then, and it's amazing what one song can kick up in a person's memory.

as for what it means, it was already pretty much summed up by stereo...but i just had to comment. the power of music! as for where she went, he doesn't know...which says a lot. how crappy is it when someone 1) disappears, and 2) doesn't even care enough to let you know to where or why for? a lot.

    General CommentGotta love it.

Just the beat in and of itself. He also has that slightly raspy voice.

Simple to understand. Doesn't require much interpretation.

General CommentStereo fan pretty much summed it up, but I'd just like to add a little nuance I think I caught in the lyrics. I might be wrong, but towards the end, where the lyrics go:

“Thought about the last few years/ I lost control, I screamed, I cried/ I punched a pole and went inside”

That part always made me feel the song is actually about someone suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's who has forgotten their significant other has passed away and comes home, expecting to see them there. But maybe I'm just overanalysing.

    Love that song, though!
