"Poem For Byzantium" as written by and Joanna Stevens Wilhelm Leeb....
Unforbidden shadows of you formed yesterday
I ran away to a room here on the bay
Interrupted life again, another new beginning
Where the silence echoes
You're no longer with me

Here and now
I feel that I'm embracing freedom
Even though I may be alone
But that's okay

Through the darkness
I would walk in the streets
Confessions never seemed
To provide me with a release
Held me down and tried to cure me
Tried to give me reason
But nothing could sepearate
This burdened mind from me

Here and now
I feel that I'm embracing freedom
Even though I may be alone, but that's okay
Looking out to a different sky will disengage me
Absence is never the answer, I know
But it serves as my shade

I do not seek and not intend to find
A calmer ocean or a sun that'll never rise
My world will never change
And time will bring you to my thoughts
I'll move on and forget you all over again
Moving on, I can forgive you all over again

Here and now
I feel that I'm embracing freedom
Even though I may be alone, but that's okay
And looking out onto a different sky
It seems so easy
Absence is never the answer, I know
But it serves as my shade

General CommentThis is such a refreshing song. I don't know how to explain it. It's sort of mystical in a way and at the same time, it's very real and it is easy to relate to. Like when starting a new chapter of life with a good attitude.

General CommentIt sounds to me like she's just escaped a bad past, perhaps a longterm relationship. She will still be tainted from the past. The fresh taste of freedom is intimidating at first, but she knows this is for the best. What awesome lyrics. :)

General CommentThis song is actually called "A Poem for Byzantium." The lyrics have one error, the very first word. The first word of the song is actually "unbidden," not "unforbidden."

General Commenti think this song is about being ripped from the cross and tea bagged by God.
    Hail Satan,

General CommentThis song is about the final days of Byzantium and how they had to face the onslaught of the Turks all by themselves, because the rest of Christendom had abandoned them.

MemoryThis album was the soundtrack for a trip I took to South Africa 11 years ago-to meet a women whom I had met online.

Long story short, our romance as such evaporated into the illusion it always was, and I continued my trip alone after about a week. This song was playing as I was driving into the entrance to St. Lucia Bay, at which point I realized that it was perfectly describing my situation!

"I ran away, to a room here on the bay"

"Through the darkness I would walk in the streets"

[The town was very beautiful at nighttime I should add]

"Looking out to a different sky will disengage me"

[This trip was my first chance to see the sights of the southern sky, such as the Southern Cross]

"I do not seek and do not intend to find
A calmer ocean or a sun that'll never be mine" [Error above in that last phrase]

[I took my first swim ever in the Indian Ocean that weekend, and on top of that there was a partial solar eclipse that was not visible from North America]

    Pretty freaky, huh?
