"Wednesday's Child" as written by and Roland/griffiths Orzabal....
Scatter-brain
You've been crying in the rain
You've been drowning in your pain
Ain't gonna die

Do the right thing
Win or lose
Don't confuse
Wednesday's child

Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa

Oh
Walk on by me
Don't deny me
Any time

Scatter-brain
You've been crying in the rain
You've been drowning in your pain
Ain't gonna die

Do the right thing
Win or lose
Don't confuse
Wednesday's child

Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa pa-pa-pa

Scatter-brain
You've been crying in the rain
You've been drowning in your pain
Ain't gonna die

General CommentWhen I hear the song, I hear it saying "YOU'RE gonna die." Maybe I heard wrong, but that always made me think the song was about someone recently diagnosed with a terminal illness....gah, I dunno.

General CommentWhen I google for "Wednesday's Child" I find a program for adoption. This would mean to me that this is about a mother who's giving up her "Wednesday's Child" and is wracked with guilt over it.

General CommentThat would make sense with "do the right thing," and stuff like that...hmmm

General CommentDoesn't it seem kind of unlikely this has something to do with an adoption program, just because it popped up on Google when you searched? Does anyone else remember this rhyme, that probably has a lot more to do with the song's inspiration?

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

General CommentI'd agree with you androgybunny... Will Young released a song called Friday's Child and having researched it's origins, this song is probably a reflection of the child in the rhyme.

    I love this tune.

General CommentMaybe... i don't know.. but for me, the wednesdayschild.adopt.org took the name from the Friday's Child song, and the Wednesday's child song took the name from basically both. The song and the adoption program.

General Commentthe song to me is about someone who has a mental illness or mental breakdown and the person is saying that they shouldnt confuse their scattered thoughts with doing the right thing....

i heard this song and i got really emotional because if it wasnt for this song, i would still be trying to understand y the guy im head over heels for is so mean to me when i ask him whats wrong. i realized that he may have a mental illness and he's in denial about it. he's a scatterbrain... very artistic and creative and very productve but then he hits a low, and he gets depressed, irritated and wants 2 push u away by being cruel.

General CommentI just heard it and sounds kinda creepy, I love it!
I'm taking the "mental illness & breakdown" thought. It has this black&green atmosphere (at least for me) that makes everything feels sick and nice at the same time. The crying, depression and rain just melt everything in the same psycho confusing dream.
