"Slave" as written by and James Michael/vallance Reyne....
Love
Barely alive
In your arms
Slave

Dreams
Taken too far
Every night
Slave

Who
Put on your heart?
Who
Put on your heart?
Who
Put on your heart?
'Cause I can't change, no

When
You're on your own
You can see
Things

Clear
Clear as a bell
And you're free
Slave

Who
Put on your heart?
Who
Put on your heart?
Who
Put on your heart?
'cause I can't change, no

And my girl
We'll say goodbye
To the things
We'll never try

Who
Put on your heart?
Who
Put on your heart?
Who
Put on your heart?
'cause I can't change, no

Love
Barely alive
Love
Barely alive
Love
Barely alive
Slave

General CommentThis is the only song on Maladroit that I love - I'm not saying I hate the cd (I mean, nothing could live up to Pinkerton) but the chords are so nicely layered and stuff...ah i just really like it. I wouldn't say I really like the lyrics to the new cd, but still, this song rocks.

General CommentThis song is so sweet. The "Love barely alive" refrain is just the business

General CommentThe "And my girl we'll say good-bye to the things we'll never try" line is like the saddest thing ive heard in a very long time. Theres a couple of awesome parts like this on Maladroit... in a couple of different songs on the album and although i guess they would add up to maybe 1-2 minutes total this is what i think makes Weezer quite special.

General CommentDrawing from personal experience: this song is about a guy who is holding onto a girl who is stuck between him and someone else thus the lyrics "who put on your heart" the guy realizes that it could never happen("and my girl we'll say goodbye, to the things we'll never try.") He's barely alive because of what she has done to him, whether intetionally or not

General Commentthis song is totally about breaking up or almost breaking up
i heard it and it fit my emotions so well i was like 'holy shit man'
also the line "And my girl we'll say good-bye to the things we'll never try" is sooo perfect for this situation.

also the opening word and closing word are marvelous
