"In-a-gadda-da-vida" as written by and Douglas Ingle....
In a gadda da vida
Iron Butterfly

In a gadda da vida, baby
(In the Garden of Eden)
In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In a gadda da vida, baby
Don't you know that I'll always be true

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
In a gadda da vida, baby
Don't you know that I'll always be true

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

In a gadda da vida, baby
(In the Garden of Eden)
In a gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you

Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land
Please take my hand

General CommentThis tune is awesome. "In a Garden of Eden"... the perfect woman... the perfect place... the perfect acid rock tune. I've been listening to it since it was first released. It was the first album in history to go PLATINUM. The keyboards, drums, bass and guitar are ALL perfect. They knit together to create that eerie "out-of-this-world" sound without being overly loud. By the way, the guitarist Erik Brann was only 17 years old at the time... highly skilled for someone so young. This tune is now almost 40 years old, but will still be around 300 years from now...

General Commentno, it does mean eden. they wrote the song sober but sant it once while drunk. it was all slurred, thus: in-a-gadda-da-vida. after they sang it like that they liked it. now it is always sung like that

General Commentamazing song. arguably the best chill-out song in the world, with its smooth psychedelic rhythm. just love it. anyone agree?

    btw,
garden of eden or garden of venus,
    does it really matter?

General Commentyo blue, my dad has it on there, I was carrying it around one time and it rang, everyone knew the tune, but couldnt understand why a 13 yr. old who loves old school music had a cell phone with that ringtone. This is my upmost favorite pure music song. I mean, 8 lines of music? no cares here. Its got that great great tune, I heard the guy on the organ piano is the lead singers dad. Truely a great family. lol
