This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
I am my own God
Master slave and I will be beyond the grave
No one will take my soul away
I carry my own will and make my day
I am my own God
See the truth beyond
Through endless lies thy kingdom come
Glorified wisdom illumination tool
Self deceit it's the golden rule
Live your life you're gonna die your own death
There's no one above that's gonna take your breath
I dip my forefinger in the watery blood
Of your impotent redeemer
And write over his thorn torn brow
The true Prince of Evil
What man's created
Man can destroy
Bring to light
That day of joy
Master slave and I will be beyond the grave
No one will take my soul away
I carry my own will and make my day
I am my own God
See the truth beyond
Through endless lies thy kingdom come
Glorified wisdom illumination tool
Self deceit it's the golden rule
Live your life you're gonna die your own death
There's no one above that's gonna take your breath
I dip my forefinger in the watery blood
Of your impotent redeemer
And write over his thorn torn brow
The true Prince of Evil
What man's created
Man can destroy
Bring to light
That day of joy

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

the song is about the life of not a satanist but of an atheist this is the best death metal song that i have ever heard and i cant believe there are only four comments while the horrible "I cum blood" by cannibal corpse gets 700 comments! Is any one aware of why the other songs on the album are unavailable?
Actually is a song about the life of an atheist, despite 'demonic' resemblance.
When he sing "I dip my forefinger in the watery blood of your impotent redeemer And write over his thorn torn brow, the true Prince of Evil" he's speaking about himself, a non-believer who despise the Christ-myth-non historical forgery-falsity and decadent lies. I'm an atheist myself, I don't see anything satanic in me.
Read these verses: "I am my own God Master slave and I will be beyond the grave No one will take my soul away I carry my own will and make my day" and find me anything satanic in it. It's pure nihilistic atheism.
And Entombed are masters in writing these kind of verses. Actually "Clandestine" album is full of this Nitzschean-Heideggerian verses. Read the opening track "Living Dead" or "Sinners Bleed" or any song..
they (Entombed) teach us verses that we should made quotes:
"Live your life you're gonna die your own death There's no one above that's gonna take your breath"
The best fucking death metal song by a mile in my opinion..(if you can class it as that)...Riff after fucking Riff...Hell, its so well done I'd call the "Movements" ....When the guitars come back in after the Keyboard Interlude is one of my favotite moments in music. Fucking Classic
the life of a satanist (read the satanic bible by anton lavey) the meaning to me is that u , as human , choose ur own life

Entombed is the best Death Metal Easily.
Great album!!!
Actually, it IS about satanism. "Left-Hand Path"... couldn't possibly be more obvious than that.
ENTOMBED!
..ROCKS.
Agreed that this is one of the best death metal albums ever made. I think Clandestine is better than this one but this song tops anything on there.
No Brov, Anton Lavey and the order he's created is not really satanism. There are truer and more ancient evils than that Lavey has created. Real satanism IS devil worship, of which Anton Lavey has nothing to do with. He and his "church" have nothing to do with the real satanists (and its a very good thing they doesn't) as they are pure atheists. And so is this song. Obviously it promotes secular philosophy such as Atheism and Agnosticism.
The song is clearly about atheism. I can't explain each line, but here it is:
In the first verse he says that there is no fate given by a god, he lives his life as he wants it.
In the second verse he ask you to take a closer look at religion. He say that the church lies to you, makes you think that you will go to a better place when you die. After all those lies you think you are illuminated but you only lie to yourself because there is no life after death.
In the third verse he basically says that there is no God.
In the fourth verse he says that religion is the root of evil. By "impotent redeemer" he means Jesus. He blames him because although he was supposed to save us, after his death everything got only worse, because in the name of God people robed and murdered on almost every continent.
In the final verse he states that man made God and man can destroy him too and asks us to make it happen so we all live in peace.
