"Real Love" as written by and Lennon....
All my little plans and schemes
Lost like some forgotten dreams
Seems that all I really was doing
Was waiting for you

Just like little girls and boys
Playing with their little toys
Seems like all they really were doing
Was waiting for love

Don't need to be alone
No need to be alone
It's real love, it's real
Yes, it's real love, it's real

From this moment on I know
Exactly where my life will go
Seems that all I really was doing
Was waiting for love

Don't need to be afraid
No need to be afraid
It's real love, it's real
Yes, it's real love, it's real

Thought I'd been in love before
But in my heart, I wanted more
Seems like all I really was doing
Was waiting for you

Don't need to be alone
Don't need to be alone
It's real love, it's real
It's real love, it's real
Yes, it's real love, it's real
It's real love, it's real
Yes, it's real love, it's real
It's real love, it's real
Yes, it's real love, it's real
It's real love, it's real

MemoryMy girlfriend really loved the beatles so much. Strangely, I woke this morning and suddenly remembered this song...then I found out that she set a reminder on her phone

"happy anniversary! don't forget to listen to the beatles's song 'real love' or anything that would sound as sweet! love you, xoxo jojo"

this song really conveys what we felt. Almost 5 months after she passed away, I still miss and love her very much.

General CommentThis is really just a Lennon song. its beautiful. on the anthology they took a recording he did himself at home and fixed it up after he died. it really adds a natural touch to the song, free from any major production. of course this must be for yoko.

General Commentthis song makes me cry... i'm not sure why. perhaps it's because i'm afraid i'll never experience this 'real love' that john speaks of.

General CommentThis song is about John's love for his child Sean. It really strikes a chord with me as a father because my son has brought unexpected joy into my life and I never could imagine such a love before. All my past relationships, even ones where I swore I was deeply in love, can compare to the love I feel for my son. Indeed, as the lyric says, "Seems like all I really was doing was waiting for him." This is a sentiment loving parents will relate to as well as knowing "exactly where your life will go" once you discover the this new type of love. You live for them and their well-being.

This song is very emotional for me because it reminds me of the tragedy of John's death at a time when he was just discovering the true love between a father and his child and also mending the relationship with his first son Julian. He missed their lives and they missed out on his parenting and love. It reminds me of how precious every moment is.

General CommentThis song made me cry too... John's immense love for his entire family was something he lived for. This song can't just be about Yoko; there were so many songs for her.

The recording is nott too shabby. Jeff Lynn did a decent job, but John Lennon still sounds kinda robotic and quiet.

General CommentIt's about finally finding that one person that makes you who you were always supposed to be. I think it has a fantastic message, one that more people should catch on to really. We've all thought we were in love. But was he/she what you really needed? Don't rush it. She'll be found.

General CommentI remember when this song came out. It's fantastic. I had taped the programme when it came on TV, and I called my father whom I hadn't seen in ages and we watched it together. When the song came on I got somewhat emotional- it made me realise that John was really gone. The beatles gave me so much joy as a child, and when John died I was devestated.

General CommentI don't know why, but this song makes me happy, but with a frown! why? I guess because of this:

"don't need to be alone... don't need to be alone..."

that part of the chorus sounds almost sad to me, with a quiet desperation, in the way that the person singing seems so used to being rejected that he feels like he needs to convince the other person of the fact there's no need to worry or be afraid. it's like he feels they're on the verge of being together, but still he's afraid that there's a chance she'll walk away from him any moment if something else came along for her.
