"17 Days" as written by Lisa Coleman, Matthew Robert Fink, Wendy Melvoin and Prince Rogers Nelson....
Called you yesterday
You didn't answer your phone
The main drag is knowing that
You probably weren't alone

So here I sit in my lonely room
Lookin' for my sunshine
But all I've got is two cigarettes
And this broken heart of mine

So let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down

You've been gone seventeen days
Seventeen long nights
The main drag is knowing that
You're holding someone else tight

I want to to call you everyday
And beg you to be near me
But I know your head is underwater
I doubt that you could hear me

So let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down

Ha, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Seventeen days
Ha, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Seventeen days

Called you yesterday
You didn't answer your phone
If you're the one who's always lonely
Then I'm the one who's always alone

So here I sit in my lonely room
Lookin' for my sunshine
All I've got is two cigarettes
And this broken heart of mine

Oh, so let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down

(Oh, let the rain come down)
(Let the rain come down)
(Let the rain come down, down) why don't you answer your phone, babe?

(Let the rain come down)
(Let the rain come down)
(Let the rain come down, down) seventeen days

(Let the rain come down)
(Let the rain come down)
(Let the rain come down, down) seventeen days

General CommentThis is probably my favorite Prince song. I don't know why. It's a pretty straight forward song about the slightly obsessed longing for someone you had before who doesn't want to see you again (or with whom you've had a huge fight).

General CommentInstead of just buying the 2 "Hits" CDs that Prince did in '93, I bought the 3-CD set that included the bonus disc that featured the rare tracks. This one was my personal favorite. It was originally the b-side to the single for "When Doves Cry". I personally thought this song should have been a commercial hit for Prince; It has a commercial feel to it. If I were his manager, I would have put this song on the album that followed, "Around the World in a Day", rather than making it a "rare track". Rare tracks aren't supposed to be this good!

General Commenti heard this b-side song in the 90s. it was the 3:18
version. thanks 2 ares, i'm still bumping the 11:03 version. 17 days y 1999 have the exact same tempo and when hearing either, the listener WILL dance
