Everyday it's the same thing; another trend has begun
Hey kids, this might be the one
It's a race to be noticed and it's leaving us numb
Hey kids, we can't be the ones

With all of our fashion we're still incomplete
The God of redemption could break our routine

There's a new way to be human
It's nothing we've ever been
There's a new way to be human
New way to be human

And where is our inspiration when all the heroes are gone?
Hey kids, could we be the ones?

'Cause nobody's famous and nobody's fine
We all need forgiveness; we're longing inside

There's a new way to be human
It's nothing we've ever been
There's a new way to be human
It's spreading under my skin
There's a new way to be human
Where divinity blends
With a new way to be human
New way to be human

You're throwing your love across my impossible space
You have created me
Take me out of me into a new way to be human
To a new way to be human

You're a new way to be human
Where my humanity bends
To a new way to be human
Redemption begins

You're a new way to be human
You're a new way to be human
You're the only way to be human
You're a new way to be human

Jon (who wrote this song) from Switchfoot says:
"What do we really want to say to the world? Three main themes. The inability to find completion in our modern society, the inability to find completion within ourselves, and the new way to be human in what Christ offers us -- His love and His perfect plan of redemption for us."

General CommentThis song is about how we all need forgiveness and that we all feel incomplete and long for something. The new way to be human is accepting God's love and Grace by accepting Jesus. Once we do that we will be complete. "Take me out of me into a new way to be human." It's not about being ourselves it's about being who God has called us to be.

General CommentIn my humble opinion, this song is about how easy it is to be whoever you want to be, and not in the most positive light. With a simple change of clothing, you can be percieved as an entirely different person. One outfit can change your apperance, and how others think of you. "it's a race to be noticed and it's leaving us numb" and "with all of our fashion we're still incomplete" speaks that, no matter what our exteriors show, there's a deeper part of us that is being ignored. There's a new way to be someone, all you have to do is ignore who you were before.

General Commenti think that the song is about knowing that people are gonna judge you... so you just be yourself anyways... no matter what they think just be you.

General CommentI think this song has everything to do with God. To me, it is confirmed with the line "The God of Redemption could break our routine." We all need to be reborn in God through Jesus Christ. He is the New Way to be Human. We have to realize that to be complete like neuf said, we need God. He will change our way of living, our "routine," and make us new again. He does that through forgiveness of our sins. He created us for His amazing plan. It's about His will not our will.
