"Hangin' By A Thread" as written by Jann Arden Richards and Robert Foster....
When I cry I close my eyes
And every tear falls down inside
And I pray with all my might
That I will find my heart in someone's arms
When I cry, cry

When I cry, when I am sad
I think of every awful thing I ever did
Oh, when I cry, there is no love
No there is nothing that can comfort me enough
When I cry, cry, cry

All the salt inside my body ruins
Everyone I come close to
My hands are barely holdin' up my head

I am so tired of lookin' at my feet
All the secrets that I keep
My heart is barely hangin' by a thread
Hangin' by a thread

Oh, look at me, at all I've done
I've lost so many things that I so dearly loved
I lost my soul, I lost my pride
Oh, I lost any hope of having a sweet life
So I cry, cry, cry

All salt inside my body ruins
Everyone I come close to
My hands are barely holdin' up my head

I am so tired of lookin' at my feet
All the secrets that I keep
My heart is barely hangin' by a thread
Hangin' by a thread

I miss you all
I wish I was with you now
I wish I was

General CommentI saw Jann in concert last year when she was in Ottawa and she explained how hard it was for her to perform this song because of its meaning. She wrote it to describe what her brother (who is currently doing time in jail for murder) must feel everyday; the guilt and remorse he feels not only for what he's done but for what his past mistakes continue to do to his loved ones today...i think it is the ultimate song about regret...if you ever get a chance to see Jann Arden in concert do it - she's a truly phenomenal woman.

General CommentThis song makes me tingle whenever I hear it, because it's so soft and beautiful and also because of it's meaning.

General CommentThis song is so meaningful to me. I always have loved this song...but it wasn't until last year when I could really understand and appreciate the lyrics.

"All the tears fall down inside"..."the salt inside my body ruins everyone I come close to"...All those tears that build up inside make you see everyone with a tainted perspective, it ruins everything good in people. You almost feel as though, because you are around them, they are ruined.

"I miss you all, I wish I were with you now, I wish I was"...WishYouWereHere wrote that Jann wrote this about her brother who was in jail, so the actual lyrics were apparently meant to be literal (he was physically separated from everyone) but when this song was so relevant for me, I felt like I was present in body, but my heart was not there...my soul was absent from everything it was passionate about.

    AHH so powerful!
Thank the Lord I have been set free from that time in my life!
