(Woo)

I dig my toes into the sand
The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds
Strewn across a blue blanket
I lean against the wind
Pretend that I am weightless
And in this moment I am happy, happy

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here

I lay my head onto the sand
The sky resembles a backlit canopy
With holes punched in it
I'm counting UFOs
I'll signal them with my lighter
And in this moment I am happy, happy

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
Wish you were here

Oh yeah, oh

The world's a roller coaster
And I am not strapped in
Maybe I should hold with care
But my hands are busy in the air saying

I wish you were here
I wish you were

I wish you were here
I wish you were here
I wish you were here
Wish you were here

I think the underlying meaning is being completely happy and content and wishing others could share in that happiness.

I didn't think of this as a love song really. Not a typical one anyway... When you're "in love" you're supposed to be miserable without that person, at least that's the way most love songs go.

This song brings back memories of times when I've been somewhere doing something (real descriptive, I know :) ) ... I'm having the time of my life, and I think, "Man, wouldn't it be awesome if [someone] was here?" [Someone] being a close friend who would understand the moment. That close friend could be a significant other but doesn't have to be.

"The song wasn't specifically about a person. It was about me acknowledging a very brief moment in my life and in my experience with all of these guys in making this record. In that moment, I wish that I had somebody to go, 'I love you, man.' I was wishing that there was someone there to share that moment with." - Bradon

I absolutely love this song. I know it is rather popular but it is still wonderfully written and I find that I can really relate to this song. Everytime I hear it I feel that I am standing on the beach with with someone I really love... I think that is a pretty good reason to like the song :)

This song brings me back to happier times living in Hawaii. I loved to go to the beach all the time and sit in the sand losing myself to the beauty of life. So many times I had wished I could share how I felt in those moments with everyone that I care about.

It's about one breathtaking moment where the world seems beautiful and evokes so much emotion that Brandon wants to share this with his soul mate, because they are part of him he feels they should be sharing this experience which would make it even more amazing. Also I think it's about forgetting about everything else in that one moment, just being absorbed by the beauty "and in this moment I am happy". I think we've all felt this way at some point haven't we? I get that when I'm out walking at night and catch a glimpse of the moon.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
