"No Reply" as written by John Lennon and Paul Mccartney....
This happened once before
When I came to your door
No reply
They said it wasn't you
But I saw you peep through
Your window
I saw the light
I saw the light
I know that you saw me
'Cause I looked up to see
Your face

I tried to telephone
They said you were not home
That's a lie
'Cause I know where you've been
And I saw you walk in
Your door
I nearly died
I nearly died
'Cause you walked hand in hand
With another man
In my place

If I were you, I'd realize that I
Love you more than any other guy
And I'll forgive the lies that I
Heard before, when you gave me no reply

I tried to telephone
They said you were not home
That's a lie
'Cause I know where you've been
And I saw you walk in
Your door
I nearly died
I nearly died
'Cause you walked hand in hand
With another man
In my place

General CommentI think this is one of their more interesting, and underrated, early songs.

General CommentLennon is one of the few artists who sings with such sincerity and intensity that one almost believes him when he shouts "I nearly died!"

General CommentThis is a great song. It shows how women are evil. At least the ones I know. ;)

General CommentThis song was inspired by some old song in which the guy goes to the girl's house drunk and knocks and knocks and thinks she's blowing him off, when it turns out he went to the wrong house.

General CommentI think this song was written, and was recorded as a demo for the purpose of giving it to another band (the name escapes me). John sang that version with a more staccato voice to match with the other band's style. In the other takes where they screw up and giggle, they were screwing up the lyrics, singing things like, "And I saw you walk in, your face..." Hilarious, boys.

General CommentJohn Lennon said that this is his first "polished" song ever! Its inspiration? A silhouette of a woman, of course! Lol.

General CommentI agree with thehappysong. When I was younger, I listened to the vocals but not really the lyric. Now I see similarities with 'Every Breath You Take' by the Police.
