Rumour spreadin' 'round
In that Texas town
About that shack outside La Grange
And you know what I'm talkin' about
Just let me know
If you wanna go
To that home out on the range
They got a lot of nice girls

Have mercy
A haw, haw, haw, haw, a haw
A haw, haw, haw

Well, I hear it's fine
If you got the time
And the ten to get yourself in
A hmm, hmm
And I hear it's tight
Most every night
But now I might be mistaken
Hmm, hmm, hmm

Ah have mercy

    General Comment:Poor whores.

In all seriousness, though, the fact that these old men can still rock a song about a whorehouse is admirable. Rock on ZZ Top.

General Comment:Possibly the easiest song in the world to get stuck in your head, I think the meaning of this one's pretty clear =op

General Comment:Lol yeah, I hear this song play at work and it's going through my head the rest of the day. Great song, I don't care for ZZ Top much but this song is awesome.

Obviously about a strip club or something similar to it.

    General Comment:Love ZZ Top.

Did you ever see the musical "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas"? The musical is based on an acutal whorehouse that was in La Grange, TX. They called it the chicken ranch because that is how some customers paid for "services". There were chickens running all over the place at one point. lol

General Comment:Its kinda funny. I live about 2 hrs away from La Grange, TX and I've gone through La Grange a lot of times, especially now that it is on my way to college but I never really listened to what this song was saying, I just liked the guitar and figured that it was a coincidence that ZZ Top had a song with the same name of the town. Well anyways, I always knew there used to be a whorehouse in La Gange but I never put these two thoughts together and looked up the lyrics until tonight. Now i feel kind of stupid becuase I never knew such a famous song was written about a town I am familiar with.

General Comment:I live about 10 minute drive from La Grange, TX. My relatives have told me a few stories about the Chicken Ranch. My aunt even has a token from the Chicken Ranch that has something written on it like "$20 Token, All Night Special" or at least something to that effect. If it was not for the senile TV reporter Marvin Zindler the "Ranch" would have probably stayed open a lot longer.
