When you live your life with a net, Do you fly?
When you jump out over the edge, Do you die?
Spinning over the needle isn't the damage done.
Look surrounding you taking down with you -
Do you really want to know?
Do you really want to know?

The weight of you, The pain of you. It's breaking, It's breaking us
The weight of you, The pain of you. I'm shaking ashamed

There's a point when even the blind can see
Did you think you'd keep everything from me
Missing days turn to missing things almost everywhere you go
And it's enough to watch you smile knowing all the while
Do you really want to know?
Do you really want to know?

The weight of you, The pain of you. It's breaking, It's breaking us
The weight of you, The pain of you. I'm shaking, I'm breaking up
The weight of your world and the look of your smile
There's something about the waiting, The waiting of
The weight of you

The weight of your world and the look of your smile
There's something about the waiting, The waiting of
The weight of your world and the look of your smile
There's something about the waiting, The waiting of
The weight of you
The weight of you
The weight of you

There's a time to live and a time...
Do you really want to know?
Do you really want to know?

General CommentThere are a lot of songs written about substance addiction from the perspective of the addict. The Weight is about dealing with someone else's addiction. The strain it places on the relationship, the murky smile they have when they are stoned, the things that are stolen to fund the addiction, and the concern that the obsession could end in death.

Chalk FarM has several great songs with awesome lyrics.
