"Jupiter" as written by and Jewel Kilcher....
Venus De Milo in half-baked shell
Understood the nature of love very well
She said, "a good love is delicious,
You can't get enough too soon
It makes you so crazy you want to swallow the moon."

Oh, oh Jupiter
Oh, oh be still my little heart
Oh, oh love is a flame neither timid nor tame
Take these stars from my crown
Let the years fall down
Lay me out in firelight
Let my skin feel the night
Fasten me to your side
Say it will be soon
You make me so crazy, baby
Could swallow the moon

My hands are two travelers they've crossed oceans and lands
But they are too small on the continent of your skin
Wandering, wandering
I could spend my life
Traveling the length of your body each night

Oh, oh Jupiter
Oh, oh be still my little heart
Oh, oh love is a flame neither timid nor tame
Take these stars
Lay me out in firelight
Let my skin feel the night
Fasten me to your side and say it will be soon
You make me so crazy, baby
Swallow the moon
Swallow the moon

Oh, oh Jupiter
Oh, oh be still my little heart
Oh, oh love is a flame neither timid nor tame
Take these stars
Swallow the moon
Swallow, swallow, swallow, swallow
Swallow the moon

General Commentthis song is more than the typical songs of lust or sugary infatuation in our society but has emotion behind it and describes love gratifyingly well ^_^

General CommentTo me, this songs speaks about very sensual love, of and growing woman to her man. What makes it so good is the feeling you get of love after many years, where he still makes her feel young.

And "Love is a flame neither timid nor tame" is one of my favorites quotes from a song.

General CommentIn Roman myth, Jupiter was the king of the gods (the Pantheon) ruler over earth and air with his home at Mount Olympus. I think Jewel writes about Jupiter because she is writing about a love that is larger than life, " To wander on the continent of his skin suggests that." She is sees him and burns with love, she can't believe she's with him, she's him as a god and feels like she could do anything, even swallow the moon. Why not, he rules there? But she knows tha'ts crazy and she knows it's because of him. The line "Take these stars from my crown" could be that she wants him to ground her and wants them to both just be on the same level for a moment, but passion has gone to their heads. But mostly it makes me think that alot of times in myth people were deified or turned into stars and constellations that we know today, and I think that is what that means, that to love such a person lifts her up, makes her feel like a goddess. I think that Jewel is simply saying how love can make a god or goddess out of anyone, and that Venus, goddess of love, knew that very well, and that who knows in who's eyes you are a god or goddess to?

General CommentI signed up just to comment on this.

What IamImaginari suggested is possible; however, another theory is that she's drawn to this man; she cannot pull herself away. The reason I believe this is because the planet Jupiter's gravity is stronger than any planet in the solar system. Whatever is pulled towards it is not going to going anywhere. If my science is incorrect, someone please correct me.

General CommentIf anyone knows anything about music, the original version of this song was written in 3/4 time. The radio version is 4/4. But they both suck.
