"Don't Talk (Put Your Head on My Shoulder)" as written by Brian Douglas Wilson and Tony Asher....
I can hear so much in your sighs
And I can see so much in your eyes
There are words we both could say
But don't talk, put your head on my shoulder

Come close, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, take my hand and let me hear your heart beat
Being here with you feels so right
We could live forever tonight
Lets not think about tomorrow
And don't talk put your head on my shoulder

Come close, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, take my hand and listen to my heart beat
Listen, listen, listen

Don't talk, put your head on my shoulder
Don't talk, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, put your head on my shoulder
Don't talk, close your eyes and be still
Don't talk, put your head on my shoulder

Song MeaningEveryone's saying how they think this is about that perfect moment in love, which is weird since I think it's the exact opposite. In fact, I think most of the album is the exact opposite.

I've always considered this song to be about that moment where you both realise that, whilst it's been wonderful and all, it's just not meant to be. And then, in spite of knowing it's doomed, deciding to ignore that for just a few more moments. I've always thought it was about the moment right before love dies.

It's all in that first verse for me. Hell, the first like 8 words: 'I can hear so much in your sighs'. That sigh sounds like love dissolving to me. But maybe I'm just cynical. I don't think it's that though, because i still think it's absolutely beautiful, but in a different, aching, tragic kind of way.

General CommentI think most people have felt or want to feel exactly what is described in this song. It's amazingly perceptive and exact - just listening to it makes me feel wrapped up and in love in someone's arms.

General CommentYeah wow, this song is great. it's when you know that one person so well; you don't even need to talk to them. Their eyes tell you everything that you want to know. You JUST know. This song capsulizes that feeling perfectly.

General CommentEveryone has already said exactly waht this song is about, and the feelings it touches. Once again, Wilson writes, as he does on all songs on the Pet Sounds album, a perfect tune. Wilson has long said that this is one of his favorite songs, with the line "don't talk, take my hand and listen to my heart beat". It is definitely a great song that more people should know. The Beach Boys are too known for their surfer music. Though, I was guilty of that for a long time, I am very happy I found this album.
