"Endomorph" as written by and Melora Rasputina Creager....
Morning has broken and what do I see
Those same bloody fingerprints following me.
So it's
Backwards and forward and back again twice it don't
pay to be thankful don't pay to be nice.
I don't
Think i'll try it again.

Guilty was all that I felt until now
Go ahead say I'm wrong, but I'm serious how all you
People get up and then don't arrrive late.
Do you
Pray every day and then patiently wait?
I don't
Think I'll try again.

I'm known as The Endomorph.
I'm slow, I go back and forth.
I'm known as The Endomorph.
She's grown attached to the kid. Punishment comes for no reason I've seen, then it
Stays for a while keeping quiet between what you
Said would take place if my big mouth was shut, and I
Pray every day, it's all o.k. but I don't
Think I'll try again.

General CommentI am stumped on this one, anyone have any thoughts on the subject? :) I know that endomorphs are from the 3 body types, the other 2 being mesomorphs and ectomorphs...endomorphs tend to be shorter & heavier w/ a slower metabolism. (woohoo guess health class paid off after all!) anyway, i always used to laugh at the lyrics "i'm slow, i go back and forth..." but now that i look closely at the lyrics, they seem much more sinister...

General CommentI think it's about a killer. This person speaks about 'bloody fingerprints following her' and a feeling of guilt.

General CommentThe title's a play on words. The prefix 'endo-' suggests inside, beneath, etc., while the suffix suggests a change. The dictionary definition is a body type, but Rasputina seems to adore puns.

General CommentWell I found this on lollipop.com

Interviewer: I think about a song like "Endomorph" (on Thanks for the Ether) where you've got bloody fingerprints, and you've got ideas of killing...

Melora Creager: It doesn't mean that to me. I just think words like endomorph and ectomorph are such weird words, and the "bloody," I just throw that in there. To me, they're like many isolated ideas strung together. So I don't get the overall view that somebody else might because they're all true things that mean something to me.

My InterpretationWell, I know this isn't what was intended but the song makes me think of someone who is getting blamed for murder, though they are innocent and generally a good person. and they are known as an endomorph because people don't see them as a person. Sort of. Now the are realizing it doesn't matter if they are nice, they are gunna get blamed anyway. I sort picture an angry torch wielding mob chasing after what they believe to be a monster. Sort of... ^_^;; thats just what I think of.

Also aren't the lyrics all messed up? This is what I hear...

Morning has broken and what do I see
But those same bloody fingerprints following me
It don't pay to be careful, don't pay to be nice
So it's backwards and forward and back again twice
    I don't think I'll try it again

Guilty was all that I felt until now
Go ahead say I'm wrong, but I'm curious how all you
People get up and then don't arrrive late.
Do you pray every day and then patiently wait?
    I don't think I'll try again.

    I'm known as The Endomorph
I'm slow, I move back and forth
    I'm known as The Endomorph

Punishment comes for no reason I've seen, but it
Stays for a while keeping quiet between what you
Said would take place if my big mouth was shut, and I
Pray every day and it's all okay but I don't
    Think I'll try again.

    I'm known as The Endomorph
I'm slow, I move back and forth
    I'm known as The Endomorph
    I'm known as The Endomorph

General CommentI never knew what this song meant, but recently I had a little epiphany as I listened to the lyrics carefully. I think it might be about a girl who is known for deceiving and leaving her lovers, as it "don't pay to be careful, don't pay to be nice". And then how she mentions the punishment "coming for no reason", meaning that if she were to become attached to someone it would only lead to undeserved heartbreak. And "praying every day" are the people who wait for their soulmates to come along. And she's an "endomorph" (inside-changing) because she puts on a new starstruck face for every lover, and just as capriciously leaves them. Just my 2 cents :)
