In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
"Wished I was a giant" said
"Man get off the street!"
Spoken like a traffic cop
Cronies at his feet
Turned on his radio and picked up the noise
Age rules with reason
and who's to disagree?
Not Mr. Spit with his abrupt delivery
And Mr. Intelligent is just a wannabe like me
And who makes the breakfast?
And who gasses the truck?
The same little bee that stung the bull
And caused the bull to buck
Only a matter of time before we have to pay
If you were 10 years younger
And I was a sunbeam
"Wished I Was A Giant" said
"Man, it's just a dream"
Only a matter of time before we have to pay...
"Man get off the street!"
Spoken like a traffic cop
Cronies at his feet
Turned on his radio and picked up the noise
Age rules with reason
and who's to disagree?

And who gasses the truck?
The same little bee that stung the bull

Holiday
Bee Gees
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
I had read something where Bob said this was about a crazy old woman interrupting a game of basketball, but that seems like an incomplete explanation.
I can see the first verse being about that, but the rest of it seems to be about being an adult and having to face the hard facts, and listen to reason... Realizing that your childhood fantasies won't come true and they won't help you avoid unwanted responsibilites and difficult situations.
A pretty sad song, probably say the saddest GBV song I've heard. That last verse in particular...
Vampire on Titus seems to be one of their most badly recorded efforts, even for a lo-fi band. The low-end is so loud that many of the lyrics of the second verse are indecipherable from the CD. Yet, they are really good lyrics.
These lines seem to be about the daily less-than-blissful marital life: And who makes the breakfast? And who gasses the truck?
These lines: The same little bee that stung the bull And caused the bull to buck
May be about the wife (the little bee) who wins the bull (Bob) - sort of like Cupid shooting an arrow, there's a stinging and piercing involved. However, since she's metaphorically a bee and bees die when they lose their sting - she's dying slowly from this. The bull is probably surprised that such a small thing brought him down and in the process will die.
Well maybe the lyrics are sad, but the song is most certainly upbeat if you ask me.
The reflective and somewhat sad nature of these lyrics are a perfect opener for the album. Vampire on Titus and Bee Thousand are two incredible and emotionally draining albums. There's so much longing and wistfulness between the two.
