"Tears Of The Dragon" as written by and Bruce Dickinson....
For too long now, there were secrets in my mind
For too long now, there were things I should have said
In the darkness...I was stumbling for the door
To find a reason - to find the time, the place, the hour

Waiting for the winter sun, and the cold light of day
The misty ghosts of childhood fears
The pressure is building, and I can't stay away

I throw myself into the sea
Release the wave, let it wash over me
To face the fear I once believed
The tears of the dragon, for you and for me

Where I was, I had wings that couldn't fly
Where I was, I had tears I couldn't cry
My emotions frozen in an icy lake
I couldn't feel them until the ice began to break

I have no power over this, you know I'm afraid
The walls I built are crumbling
The water is moving, I'm slipping away...

I throw myself into the sea
Release the wave, let it wash over me
To face the fear I once believed
The tears of the dragon, for you and for me

Slowly I awake, slowly I rise
The walls I built are crumbling
The water is moving, I'm slipping away...

I throw (I throw)
Myself (myself)
Into the sea
Release the wave, let it wash over me
To face (to face)
The fear (the fear)
I once believed
The tears of the dragon, for you and for me

I throw (I throw)
Myself (myself)
Into the sea
Release the wave, let it wash over me
To face (to face)
The fear (the fear)
I once believed
The tears of the dragon, for you and for me

General CommentGreat song by the one and only true singer of Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson. I love the vocals, the lyrics, and the guitar. It's all great.

General CommentI seem to recall that this is about a guy who's trying to get over the past so he can go on with the future. I get butterflies in my stomach whenever I listen to this song, it was my first Dickinson song. If you guys are into this, you should hear the orchestral version, it's 8:18 long and it's beautiful.

General CommentIt's not: 'I have no PRAYER over this', it's: 'I have no POWER over this'. Get it right you moron

General CommentI've always felt that this song was about a man who had let something build up for so long that he can't take it anymore, and just let's his emotions loose. And that the "tears of the dragon" are the tears of the man.

A very well written song, absolutely beautiful. Oh, and it is most certainly "I have no POWER over this"

General CommentOtm is right - during the Wacken 2002 gig (which is preserved in the form of the worst bootleg ever recorded!), Bruce says this before the song:

"This is a song that I wrote when I left Iron Maiden, and it's about fear, it's about doubt, and it's about trying to conquer the bullshit that's in your life."

General CommentBruce definetly has to be one of the greatest song writers ever. Every song he writes has such intelligence and art work and beauty behind it. Except for stuff like 22 Acacia Avenue and Charlotte the Harlot, but that stuff still is awesome, even if it's not genius like the rest of his work. But if you look into the meaning of his songs they have great meaning unlike most music today.

But this song is just amazing. The Acoustic Chill Out on this song is also an amazing one. Alive in Studio A, Alive at the Maruqee Club, and Scream for Me Brazil on this song are also amazing. The only version of this song I don't care for would be the original version, First Bit, Long Bit, Last Bit.

General CommentAnd to the guy that said about the orechstral version, I don't really care for that version. Scream for me Brazil version is definetly the best. But the versions I have would be..

Tears of the Dragon (6:24 length)
Tears of the Dragon (Acoustic Chill Out) (4:32 length)
Tears of the Dragon (Alive at the Maruqee Club) (6:33 length)
Tears of the Dragon (Alive in Studio A) (6:27 length)
Tears of the Dragon (First Bit, Long Bit, Last Bit) (8:19 length)
Tears of the Dragon (Scream for me Brazil) (7:42 length)

They're all good but Scream for me Brazil is amazing, the fans are so into the song, you can almost hear the fans more than Bruce.
