I never thought that this day would ever come
When your words and your touch just struck me numb
Oh and it's plain to see that it's dead
The thing swims in blood and it's cold stoney dead
It's so hard not to feel ashamed
Of the loving living games we play
Each day

And I'm stuck in a shack
Down the back of the sea
Oh and I'm alive and I'm alone
Inside a sick sick dream
Oh is it me
Is it me that feels so weak
I cannot deceive but I find it hard to speak

The hardest walk you could ever take
Is the walk you take from A to be to see

I walk
Oh honey I talk
Don't want you to want me
Don't want you to need me
Don't want you to need me
Don't want you to need me

And I walk

This is the song which first made me love this band. I knew that they could do glorious noise but this melodic gem demonstrated quietly that they could also throw up pop perfection just as easily. As for lyrical depth, there isn't any.

I don't understand why everyone is saying the lyrics are trash.. Its about a departed relationship. This song has so much meaning to on shattered relationships/ going about on your own, away from a loved one. Somethings are out of your control; the hardest walk.

I think he breaks up with her ("words and touch just struck me numb" implies she doesn't turn him on any more).

This is my favorite one they did. I thought it was "from A to B to see"

I was a bit gutted after going on this website for the lyrics.

i usually (try to) work out the lyrics for myself. My idea of what they were messes up the meaning so much:S

I never thought that this day would ever come When your looks and your touch just struck me dumb Oh and it's plain to see on this day You were something above of this cool sunny day. It's so hard not to feel ashamed Of the loving living games we play Each day

And i was stuck in a shack Down the back of the sea Oh and I was alive and alone Inside a sick sick dream Oh is it me Is it me that feels so weak? I cannot deceive but I find it hard to speak

The hardest walk you could ever take Is the walk you take from me To be, to see.

I'd walk Oh honey I'll talk I don't want you to want me I don't want you to leave me I don't want you to leave me I don't want you to leave me I don't want you to leave me

I know these AREN'T the actual lyrics but i was just tryign to make the point that JAMC rock for the fact that whatever you think the lyrics are. IT's always gonna be an awesome song!

oh, and anyone who hasnt bought the power of negative thinking boxset yet... Shame on you!:P

    My Interpretation

I believe this song is about when he finds He is no longer in love with someone he has been with.

"I never thought that this day would ever come when your words and your touch struck me numb. Oh and it's plain to see it's dead"

He is saying that he no longer loves them and that the relationship is over for him.

"And I'm stuck in a shack. Down the back of the sea. Oh and I'm alive and I'm alone inside a sick sick dream. Oh is it me is it me that feels so weak I cannot deceive but I find it hard to speak"

He is saying that he is stuck in the relationship because he is too "weak" and he can't keep up the act anymore.

"The hardest walk you could ever take is the walk you take from A TO B to C"

This could either mean it's very difficult for him to "walk from a to b to c" which is his everyday life or walk because of this relationship or that it's the hardest walk for him to walk out of the relationship and leave and saying it's A to B to C is like saying it's just natural what he must do but it's still difficult.

"I walk oh honey I talk. Do not want you to want me. Don't want you to need me x4 and I walk"

This ending can be either that he leaves the relationship and he feels bad thus the "don't want you to want/need me" or that he he keeps walking or continuing his life as it is in the relationship and hoping that his partner breaks up with him or stops loving him

I agree, this song is great. I can't figure out if she broke up with him (as indicated in the first stanza with "words and touch just struck me numb") or he with her (as implied when he says "Don't want you to want me"). Any way it's cool.

This song is a real work of genius! The Noise and the melody are damn great. The lyrics are total trash, but i like them, kinda violent and depressed, maybe the lyrics are a joke. Great song.

I agree that this song is great. I think many people are missing the point of the lyrics. The song sounds kinda messy and so do the lyrics. The lyrics and music I think describe perfectly the feelings and anxiety you feel when you are breaking up with someone who you thought you would be with forever. You don't know where to go, what to do, even what to think. You just become very primate and say/think a bunch of things kind of like he does in this song. Very dramatic but simple minded with a twist from a genius mind.
