"Put Your Lights On" as written by and Erik Schrody....
Hey now, all you sinners
Put your lights on, put your lights on
Hey now, all you lovers
Put your lights on, put your lights on

Hey now, all you killers
Put your lights on, put your lights on
Hey now, all you children
Leave your lights on, you better leave your lights on

'Cause there's a monster living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an angel, with a hand on my head
She say I've got nothing to fear

There's a darkness deep in my soul
I still got a purpose to serve
So let your light shine, into my hole
God, don't let me lose my nerve, don't let me lose my nerve

Hey now, hey now, hey now, hey now
Wo oh hey now, hey now, hey now, hey now

Hey now, all you sinners
Put your lights on, put your lights on
Hey now, all you children
Leave your lights on, you better leave your lights on

'Cause there's a monster living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an angel, with a hand on my head
She say I've got nothing to fear
She say La ill aha ill allah
We all shine like stars
La ill aha ill allah
We all shine like stars
Then we fade away

General CommentThe song doesn't end with "whooo-ahha hey la la" - it ends with "La ilaha illa Allah," which is much more representative of the nature of the song and Everlast. He had just come out of recovering from a heart attack, and had converted to Islam - hence "La ilaha illa Allah," the first part of the Kalima Shahadah, Islam's declaration of belief in the oneness of God. The Shahadah's daily recitation is one of the five pillars of Islam. Clearly, this is a very spiritual song for Everlast, and it shows in the lyrics.

General CommentIt's about being a child. "She says i got nothing to fear" - his mother. actually cadillac craig's definiton is probably better than mine.

Everlast is the best rapper out there at the moment. He has a lot more to say than people like Gay-Z ("Yo, yo, wozzup bo!? Where mah ho's at??" - stupid shit like that.)

General CommentWell, i think this song is about opening up and not being afraid. Not hiding your problems away until they consume you ( hehe....thats me,guilty) Good vs evil, ur conscience, etc. Interesting..."children LEAVE ur lights on" implying this "light" is something we lose as we grow older and more cynical.

Anyways, I LOVE this song,I could listen to it for hours(which i almost do.lol) Oh,and I want to have Everlasts babies too.lol.

General Commentthis song is so fuckin tite i wanna crap my pants. the monster under his bed is a dark secret that he has,a burden on his mind. he wants to let people see it, but cant open up. even with this "angel" by his side, the monster's voice is louder. the melancholy sound of this song is incredible; sad yet mysterious. peace.

General CommentI think of it being about the temptations of good and evil. "Put your lights on" is a reference to a halo. The sinners, lovers and killers are told to put them on. The children are told to leave them on.

General CommentProlly about ones fear. Everlast and Santana put it in a very nice way. I think the meant that everyone of us deep inside still is te child he was. ur never too old to be afraid. and i think that wat the monster is.

"Theres a monster , living under my bed, whispering in my ear"

and on the other hand there is always hope

"There's an angel with a hand on my head She says I've got nothing to fear"

And this msg is to everyone (sinners, lovers ,killers, children) reach into ur deepest darkest fear, face it, and pray u dont loose ur nerve, and that will put ur light on...

General CommentActually the ending for the song is:

Because there's a monster living under my bed
    Whispering in my ear
There's an angel, with a hand on my head
She say's I've got nothing to fear
    La illaha illa Allah
    We all shine like stars
    La illaha illa Allah
    We all shine like stars
    Then we fade away

    ---------------------------------
Everlast is actually a Muslim, so i guess this is a pretty holy song about redemption and turning back to the light. Monster=Temptation, Angel and the putting lights back on thingie=guidance to the right path...

General Commentthis was written after the lead singer for everlast had some sort of rare heart attack. its about not knowing if you're going to live tomorrow and for everyone to put your lights on to see what is really going on. The children are the only pure ones.
