"I'm a Loser" as written by John Lennon and Paul Mccartney....
I'm a loser
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Of all the love I have won, and have lost
There is one love I should never have crossed
She was a girl in a million my friend
I should have known she would win in the end

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

Although I laugh and I act like a clown
Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown
My tears are falling like rain from the sky
Is it for her or myself that I cry?

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

What have I done to deserve such a fate?
I realize I have left it too late
And so it's true pride comes before a fall
I'm telling you so that you won't lose all

I'm a loser
And I lost someone who's near to me
I'm a loser
And I'm not what I appear to be

General CommentI wish it would mean that the dumper is singing this song and is realizing he is such a freaking loser for letting a great girl go. Oh well, it's probably the other way around.

General CommentI haven't heard this song in a while, but once i heard it the words really hit me hard because of my current situation / bone headedness (most accurate / intellectual word i could think of). Especially "and so it's true pride comes before a fall" I can't even begin to think how true this is; how we know our pride will get us in trouble, but sometimes we ignore what is inevitable because of our instant feelings of pride.

General CommentThis is another song written about the loss of his mother, Juila. It's also John's attempt to down play the "happy-beatle" image that he was being perceived as being. I believe John was ridden with guilt after the untimely death of his mother. I think she was trying to have a meaningful relationship with John during the last two years of her life......John was probably "hot and cold" with her, as he says in another song (I'll Cry Instead) "I have a chip on my shoulder that's bigger than my feet"....

General CommentLennon calls himself a loser because he lost someone, he's probably talking about his mother as The Great Wok pointed out. This is my favorite song from their early 1962-1964 days.
