"Making Enemies" as written by Gary Lightbody, Mark Mcclelland and Jonathan Quinn....
We're just waiting for our man
To come through with a plan
Of how the hell we turn this 'round
And dig ourselves out of the ground

We don't really want to know
The things you claim to know
It could fall around our ears
Might not hurt for years and years

We're just waiting for our man
To come through with a plan
Of how the hell we turn this 'round
And dig ourselves out of the ground

We don't really want to know
The things you claim to know
It could fall around our ears
Might not hurt for years and years

We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
We're just waiting, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

We're just waiting for our man, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
To come through with a plan
Of how the hell we turn this 'round, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And dig ourselves out of the ground

We don't really want to know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
The things you claim to know
It could fall around our ears, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Might not hurt for years and years

We're just waiting for our man, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
To come through with a plan
Of how the hell we turn this 'round, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And dig ourselves out of the ground

We don't really want to know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
The things you claim to know
It could fall around our ears, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Might not hurt for years and years

    General CommentMe neither.

Maybe it's about ignorance -- how ignorance and not knowing something might actually be bliss. If you don't know what it is, it won't hurt you.

I'd need to hear the actual song to make a better... translation though.

General CommentIf you've not heard the song, buy the album it's from. Or if you're really opposed to paying for music, find your free downloads better.

It's the third track from their second album, "When It's All Over We Still Have To Clear Up". Just because it was released before Final Straw doesn't mean it's not out there somewhere, plus it was re-released last year so it should be easy, and cheap, to get hold of. And I recommend that you do, because it's superb.

General CommentBack to the song's meaning, yeah?

I think it's about snow patrol's slow rise to fame...

'We're just waiting for our man [their manager] to come through with the plan'

Snow Patrol had to wait ages before they were allowed to tour and create a second album, because label mates belle and sebastian were sucessful and they were not.

Snow Patrol are now the biggest band in britain at the minute... jeepster must be kicking themselves now!
How could anyone overlook the bagfuls of potential this band had?

General CommentNot meaning related but the start of the track features backwards masking. Being the sado I am I did reverse it. No messages from Satan though just "Yea yea yeah" repeated, I really must get a life :)
