"Boys Of Summer" as written by Don Henley and Michael W. Campbell....
Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
I'm drivin' by your house
Though I know you're not at home

But I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin' in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I never will forget those nights
I wonder if it was a dream
Remember how you made me crazy?
Remember how I made you scream
Now I don't understand what happened to our love
But babe, I'm gonna get you back
I'm gonna show you what I'm made of

I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin' in the sun
I see you walkin' real slow and you're smilin' at everyone
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

Out on the road today, I saw a DEADHEAD sticker on a Cadillac
A little voice Inside my head said,

General CommentThis is one of the best cover songs i've ever heard. when i was little i remember hearing this song and hating it. now i cant get enough of it. this is the only song i've heard so far from Codeseven but i've already ordered the c.d. the chorus is the best part of the cover song, which i could listen 2 over and over. If their other songs r half as good as "Boys Of Summer" then i hope that these guys get popular because they deserve it.

General Commentthey are popular....popular enough. they've always been the small local band around here (NC) and it's fukin great that they've made ti this far. and they're ten times better without "fat dave". anyone who doesn't have "The Rescue" should stop all actibity and go get it. it's amazing. but then again, Codeseven always has been....

General CommentOut of all the versions, and the original, this one by far beats them all. Hell, this is probably the best cover, ever.

General CommentThis song is about youth and a young love. At first, I really didn't think so, primarily you can see its about wanting someone back but it has a deeper meaning than that. "The boys of summer" is a metephor for his past. Summer is his past. The best times he had were with the boys of summer. His friends etc. "I can tell you my love for you will still be strong after the boys of summer has gone" means he'll still love her after all his best years have gone
"Nobody on the road, nobody on the beach ... the summer's out of reach..." etc. refers to how the past is over. "I'm driving by your house though I know you're not home" to his love being gone too.
"Out on the road today, I saw a Dead Head sticker on a cadillac" is a metephor for how things have changed too. A Dead Head sticker used to be a sign of rebelling and there it is on a nice car that a lot of people want; exactly what the sticker was rebelling against. It's ironic. It's not longer a sign of rebelling. It's now become part of the consumer world.
Ultimately, he doesn't want to look back to his love because that means looking back onto his past too. It's too late to look back kind of. But he can still see her. He still loves her

General CommentAHHHHH best cover song of ALLL time!!

This album is one of the most beautiful pieces of work I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. We're in effin 2010 and I was listening to this band back in 2001. It's amazing how different they sound on every album, from sense of coalition to this one. But they always caught my ear no matter what. I defy the reviews that dismissed this album as an attempt to fit into the mainstream pop punk genre. The hell with that. This was one of the greatest bands of all time, no messing around. After this album, however, I don't know what other direction there was to take, and I obv. don't know the exact reasons they broke up, whether it was internal conflicts or w/e, but I'm a firm believer in ending things when they are at their pinnacle, much like the decision to end Sex and The City or Friends when they were at the top. Sometimes there's no where else to go. But goddamnit to hell, this band will always get me hot 'ehn bothered. Holler at me. ONE TIME!
