Recollect me darling, raise me to your lips
Two undernourished egos, four rotating hips
Hold on to me tightly, I'm a sliding scale
Can't endure, then you can inhale clearly
Out of body experience interferes
And dreams of flying, I fit nearly
Surrounds me, though I get lonely slowly

Moving up slowly, inertia keeps
She's moving up slowly, slowly
Moving up slowly, inertia creeps
Moving up slowly, she comes
Moving up slowly, she comes
Moving up slowly, inertia creeps
Moving up slowly, she comes
Moving up slowly, she comes, moving up slowly

In my home no chrome as clear as
See me now with my nearest dearest
Been there when I'm over careering
Room shifting is endearing
Between us is our kitchen
Would you found my irritant's itching
Been here before
Been here forever

Moving up slowly, inertia keeps
Moving up slowly, inertia creeps
Moving up slowly, inertia keeps
Moving up slowly, she comes
Moving up slowly, moving up slowly
She comes, moving up slowly
Inertia creeps, moving up slowly

She comes
There be no sound in my eidertown
Awake I lie in a morning's blue
Room is still my antenna in you
Nylon burns the bedspread with two
Gravity's zero see me stall
I bounce off walls lose my footing and fall
It can be sweet though incomplete though
And the frames will freeze
See me on all four's
It's been a long time

She comes, she comes

I want to x you, she comes
I want to x you, she comes

I caught your radio waves
I caught your radio waves
Will you take a string
Say you string me along
Say you string me along
Say inertia creeps
Inertia creeps and she comes
Say she comes, say she comes
Say she comes, say she comes

In an interview, 3D said that this song is about a destructive relationship where he couldn't bring himself to leave nor could she. I see this, but the song is very sinister and very sexual. I didn't realize how creepy the whole song was until I saw the video, which I think is their best.

I always thought it was about suppression of his femininity or something...like there is a woman personality in his head, hence: "she comes"

but only because i saw the video which is really weird and has a women that looks like a man in it...thats just me though.

Phrogex...I don't know you, and I don't want to judge you, but it is sure hard when you come off like such a BITCH. man! first of all, you say it would be 'dissing' the song to say that it's about sex. WTF?! are you a nun? sex is as worthy a subject as anything else. its true that it is not the only subject, and the destructive relationship story fits well with lines like 'it could be sweet though incomplete though' but DAMN! you say most of the song has nothing to do with sex...how about lines like:

Recollect me darling raise me to your lips Two undernourished egos four rotating hips Hold on to me tightly I'm a sliding scale Can't endure then you can't inhale

    She's moving up slowly

    She comes

    She comes

    She comes

    She comes

    She comes moving up slowly

    She comes

Room is still my antenna in you Nylon burns the bedspread with two

See me on all four's It's been a long time

She comes She comes I want to x you She comes I want to x you She comes

Inertia creeps and she comes Say she comes Say she comes Say she comes Say she comes

And if you want to argue that these all have some other meaning, well there are things called 'double entendres' a french expression for stuff that means TWO things! SYMBOLISM! and nobody said he was horny when he wrote it! it's not required that you're horny when you write a song that features sex. I realize that I'm ranting a bit. I apologize. I also realize that dear 'Phrogex' will likely not even see this, as his/her comments are from back in '04... whatever.

    peace

The two egos obviously represent the guy and the girl, while four rotating hips suggest that they are having sex (a person has two hip bones, one on each side)

I actually though this way the 'neatest' line in the song.

'back / she comes' (on the singles 90-98 collection) is basically this, with even more sexiness (it seems an impossible feat, but believe me!). del naja's lyrics are both original and insanely erotic, and his voice, just-- oh, that man is a god.

In terms of meaning: If you don't think it's about sex, you're retarded.

Wow! How funny! I don't even remember posting that. Looking back, I can see how much I've matured since then. Today, I actually agree with you Deadeyeduck. That must have been a phase of mine when I thought anything that dealt with sex was unintelligent and "evil."

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
