"I Should Have Known Better" as written by John Lennon and Paul Mccartney....
I should have known better with a girl like you
That I would love everything that you do
And I do, hey, hey, hey, and I do

Whoa, oh, I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't you see

That when I tell you that I love you, oh
You're gonna say you love me, too, oh
And when I ask you to be mine
You're gonna say you love me, too

So oh, I should realized a lot of things before
If this is love you've got to give me more
Give me more, hey hey hey, give me more

Whoa, oh, I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't you see

That when I tell you that I love you, oh
You're gonna say you love me, too, oh
And when I ask you to be mine
You're gonna say you love me, too
You love me, too, you love me, too, you love me, too

General CommentAw, really? How sweet. When I have kids they'll just HAVE to be into the Beatles, but that won't be for a while! LOL. But getting back on track, the vocals are the best part of this song. It's all so perfect and if it doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will.

General CommentNice one guys, but this site is about the lyrics, not about band praise, you cocksmokers. This song is pretty easy to understand, but I always thought the line (sung by Lennon) "This could only happen the me" was talking about the fact he was becoming famous and starring in movies and shit- because he was so talented.

General CommentWell, i am going to START by praising the band because they are AWESOME and they deserve to have a country named after them!! (or something equally extreme...)

The song, to me, is about a boy who met a girl, and just thought she'd be good for a quick fling. But he chose a girl who is just what he has always looked for and he falls in love with her.

She on the other hand, went into it feeling that it could become something bigger, and that was obvious to him, which is why he says

"That when I tell you that I love you, oh,
You’re gonna say you love me too hoo hoo
    Hoo hoo, oh,
And when I ask you to be mine,
You’re gonna say you love me too."

So yeah, thats what i think its about.

Also i'd like to say that it is AWESOME use of the harmonica, and that George's guitar riff in it is great.

Also, when it is only one tracked John on the second "That when i tell you that i love you..." etc, it sounds AWESOME, and the "oh"s are, i reckon, the sexiest parts of any song i have ever heard.

I swoon whenever i hear it!

    Lol!!

General CommentI love this one... if you watch the anthology movie, its pretty amusing when they get to a part that has all the bad takes of songs... with this one, John starts singing "I... should have known better with a girl like you" and when he gets to you his voice goes funny and he clears his throat! I always found their takes that didn't make it almost as amusing as listening to the songs!
