That's the way love goes
Will it change you inside out
And then it flows
To the places unfamiliar yeah

Let me tell, I'm hot for you
You're so hot for me
So get on girl
Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on
I'm hot for you
You're so hot for me
So get on
I want to get it on with you
I'm sending you a message
I hope you got the sense to read between the lines
You know that in the book it says that
For me you never seem to find the time
Come on I've waited for your phone calls
But you must be uptown having fun
When you do that thing you do
I get so excited too
But you never think to ask me if I want to
Come with you
So honey where do we go from here
You know baby
I've been trying to find out but I'm still
Some way from knowing
You know I am, come on
It's not exactly clear, no no
The love you should be giving me
Is the love you're rarely showing
That's the way love goes
That's the way
That's the way it goes for me and you
Come on let me tell you now

I feel you're pushing me out
Soon I'm gonna lose my patience girl
Can't understand what you're about
Cause there's no communication
You say you love to love me, love to love me
But you always keep your distance
So honey strike me off your list
If your love comes with a twist
Cause I want the part that lingered on my lips when we first kissed

Say do you love me
If you do tell me something
And make it true
Do you love me
I need to know
Baby can't you tell me where we're gonna go
Where do we go from here
I've been trying to find out but I'm still some way from knowing

It's not exactly clear no no
The love you should be giving me
Is the love you're rarely showing
That's the, that's the way love goes
And where it's taking us well we don't know
So let's move straight on ahead
And tow in the line between us girl

I think I'd sooner make this love dead
Than waste all my time on you, yeah
I'm wasting all my time
I'm gonna learn learn learn
That's the way love goes
That's the way
It's gonna hurt me so bad
But I won't let it show
I get the feeling that it's gonna
Tear out my mind till I can no longer breathe

I know I'm gonna learn, learn, learn
That's the way love goes

Where do we go from here?
I've been trying to find out but I'm still some way from knowing
It's not exactly clear
The love you should be giving me
Is the love you're rarely showing
Hey but that's the way love goes now
You know that's the way love goes

I'm so hot for you
I'm so hot for you
Honey I'm so hot for you

This song is just awesome, I can NOT believe this only has one comment so far.

First off, musically it's awesome. The trumpet in the beginning is obnoxious, but doesn't last long. Then the walking bassline on the piano is just AWESOME. Once you get into the main song it just keeps groovin'.

As far as the meaning of the song itself, it's something I know all about.

For me, this is about a guy who wants his girl to cut the bullshit. She says she loves him, but her actions don't line up with her words at all. She never has time for him, but she hangs out with all her other friends:

For me you never seem to find the time Come on I've waited for your phonecalls But you must be uptown having fun When you do that thing you do I get so exited too But you never think to ask me if I want to Come with you So honey where do we go from here???

Uptown having fun, with her other people. I know how that goes.

Then he calls her out on it: You say you love to love me, love to love me But you always keep your distance So honey strike me off your list If your love comes with a twist Cause I want the part that lingered on my lips when we first kissed

Just... Read the lyrics, it's all there plain as day.

The love you should be giving me Is the love you're rarely showing

He wants to know if she's serious about it or just fooling around, cause he wants something real. He wants to know where they're headed, he wants to know if he's wasting his time:

Where do we go from here? I've been trying to find out but I'm still some way from knowing It's not exactly clear

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
