I always tried to keep you near me
I always tried to make things work
Now that the dust has settled i see that I was just a jerk
At first I didn't understand
Your reason for leaving
Was it my over controlling demand
That left you pissed and screaming
Left your soul there bleeding
Left me on the floor pleading

I repelled you away
Just like bug spray
I shouldn't have been so hard
I shouldn't have made you stay

Over obsessive behavior
Left a bitter flavor on my tongue
I don't blame you for running
I don't blame you for running away

Maybe its someone else that you preffered
Someone unlike me
Someone thats not a possesive bastard
Someone who can see
Exactly what you need
I cried for so long
And I've tried for so long
I don't think that I can go on
But I need to fess up
That I'm just a mess up
And I'm the only one that was wrong

I repelled you away
Just like bug spray
I shouldn't have been so hard
I shouldn't have made you stay

Over obsessive behavior
Left a bitter flavor on my tongue
I don't blame you for running
I don't blame you for running away

Now you haunt my dreams
Now you haunt my nightmares
Nothings what it seems
No one really cares
All the times I stood up for you
Even when I knew you weren't right
All the hard times that we've been through
Have been shattered, breaks the light

I repelled you away
Just like bug spray
I shouldn't have been so hard
I shouldn't have made you stay

Over obsessive behavior
Left a bitter flavor on my tongue
I don't blame you for running
I don't blame you for running away

"Now you haunt my dreams/Now you haunt my nightmares" Good song. There's always this tremendous feeling of regret and guilt after a break-up. This song expresses that perfectly. You are left wondering, what is it that I did that has made you feel this way? Once you think about it, you can't blame them, but you wonder what you could do to fix it. In the end, you can't fix it. It's over. It's done.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
