"Children Of The Night" as written by and Wayne Shorter....
All that I know in my life, I have learned on the street
No magic carpet, no genie, no shoes on my feet

Will I wake up from this nightmare?
A fear that chills me to the bone
Though I may be one of many
I feel so all alone

We are the children of the night
We won't go down without a fight
Our voice is strong, our future's bright
And thanks to what we learned from you
We've grown into the children of the night

Left by my father with only this scar on my face
Told by my mother that, "No, you were just a mistake."
I have tasted my own hunger
Sold my body to survive
Some have paid to scratch the surface
But they can't touch what's inside

How I long for something better
Than this life I know too well
Lord, I know I'm bound for heaven
Cause I've done my time in hell

General CommentThis song is so sad. He interviewed real kids to write this song, at The CHildren of the Night Foundation in LA. He based the lyrics on their stories. His dad played an arrangement on this song.

General CommentThis song shoes how street-dwelling-kids live and survive through their life which is nothing less than a living hell!

They are indeed Children of the night :)

    General CommentThe line:

Our voice is strong, our future's bright

How can their futures be bright? There is no redemption in this song. No hero to save them. Any thoughts?

General CommentI listened to this song last night and I cried. I know there are neglected children out there, but there shouldn't be. Children should never be abused or forgotten. Their just starting out and in my opinion being an adult is hard enough, childhood shouldn't be that hard. I think this song is a message that's saying children should never be forgotten. There are so many children that have no one and I believe more should be done for those children
